Question:
What is MSM?

Answer:
This post is spam, an advertisement for a site selling MSM, and it is the custom here to discourage such posts, not to encourage further advertising. The charter of this group specifically prohibits this type of message. Besides, spammers, as a rule do not read responses to their posts they are only interested in hits on their site and sales. If you wish to learn about the claims made by the suppliers of MSM just type the letters into your favorite search engine and you will find many sites promoting the supplement. In addition you can go to The Arthritis Foundation site http://www.arthritis.org/ where they are featuring their book on alternative therapies. There you can do a search on articles about MSM from the traditional medicine point of view. You will find that the sides are quite opposed to each other, you should read both the pro and the con, bearing in mind that the promoters are trying to sell you something and that the AF has historically been negative toward alternative treatment and had to eat crow on more than one occasion because of it. You will have to decide for yourself. First, I want to tell you that MSM is organic sulfur. In a blind study performed by Dr Lawrence, with people with RA, 80 percent (yes! Eighty percent!) experienced pain relief. I use 5 grams of MSM per day and have found relief from pain in my hands. Hello JDShine. I understand your not wanting spammers to flood this group. I sell MSM, so by the strict rule you are applying I am a spammer. However, I feel that this alternative natural food which is inexpensive and safe and helps people with pain needs to be talked about everyday. Because the profit margin is very low, the large drug companies will not sell or advertise MSM. So person to person communication is the best way for you to find out about it. There are many sucess stories out there. We want to tell you about them. Sometimes the door to door salesman does have a good idea, so don't slam the door so fast! BTW, we do follow and read the messages on the internet. 2nd BTW, we have a link to the Arthritis Foundation to from our site. We also do fund raising for our local chapter. Actually, Dr. Ronald M. Lawrence, M.D., Ph.D. is a founding member of the International Association for the Study of Pain and the American Association for the Study of Headaches. How about giving us the reference where your Dr Lawrence published his findings? And I'd like to see Dr Lawrence's full name, affiliation, background in terms of whether he is a Ph.D in art history or biochemistry, veterinarian, dentist or physician and especially what his training in rheumatoid arthritis is. If I had to choose which DR to trust...Dr Lawrence or Dr Susan...The lady wins - hands down. thanks for the opportunity to respond. Stanly W. Jacob, M.D. is director of the DMSO Clinic and professor of surgery at Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland. Neurologist Ronald M. Lawrence, M.D. Ph.D. is a founding member of the International Association for the Study of Pain and the American Association for the Study of Headaches. Health writer Martin Zuchker has written extensively on natural healing, nutrition, fitness, and alternative medicine for more than twenty years. For your review; Lawrence, R.M. Methylsulfonylmethane (MSM): A double -blind study of its use in degenerative arthritis. International Journal of Anti-Aging Medicine, Summer 1998, 1(1):50. As JDShine said, just type in msm into any search engine and you will find a wealth of info. You could start at our site; msmforless.com if you would like, but just start learning about it somewhere. In Agoura Hills, CA. Graduated from UC Irvine Medical School in 1962. Is not a member of the AMA. Nothing mentioned in his personal biography at the AMA site about any PhD.
