Question:
Have a look at www.thehealthdeck.com and see what you think?I'm thinkingof taking my aunty who has arthritis in here knees, hands and hip. She has been suffering for about 13 years and the cold weather sets it off. I thinks it worth a go, but would like opinions form anyone if I can From a purely personal viewpoint, I don't think I could even manage to get into the damty thing without a lot of pain. Depending on her level of mobility, your aunt might be better off with an IR massager for home use, such as the handheld unit I use. It's a Remington, which has massage of varying intensities and IR heat, and is very easy to manipulate and use on any area.. Wax baths are aslo pretty effective for hand pain, at least I find mine very soothing. Have you any experience in terms of healthy supplement for example fish oils and such? Also any particular wax baths you recommend or is it good as a generic therapy? This is my wifes drop in clinic that she has set up, that you cannot buy anything from the website. I am seeking honest opinion on its merits as a treatment, and I am not allowing my aunty to go on it until I am satisifed it is a bonafide therapy that is not harmful. I have explained the whole situation to the moderater and have requested this thread be taken off as it is not my doing. As it stands, the website is for information only, you cannot buy anything from it. If you see the website, you will see the prices that are charged, but you will only spend money if you turn up in person to the clinic and pay after your treatment, if you need one! ONly then , that's only if you live in the vicinity of Hartlepool. With regard to fish oil, as I suffer from rheumatoid arthritis, I really couldn't say that it has helped in that respect, although I do take it for the supposed heart health bonus. I believe it has proven beneficial for people who have osteoarthritis, as it promotes cartilage regeneration. The wax bath thing is a generic therapy, and although there are different brands available, I certainly wouldn't recommend one over another. It's primarily the soothing (and lasting) effect of the heat which alleviates the pain, as the skin is never in direct contact with the wax. (You wear throwaway plastic gloves to prevent contact, and insulated mitts over those while the wax is on.) I would recommend this type of treatment for anyone with severe hand pain, although it might be best to try it via a qualified physiotherapist first, to save the considerable expense of buying the kit in case it's not effective. As with TENS, it works better for some than it does for others. I was fortunate enough to have the wax therapy via the local physio department, and decided to buy my own after that, as it was so effective for me. The downside is that the bath itself takes up a fair bit of space, and is very slow to heat up (2 - 4 hours, depending on your preferred temperature), so it's not a spur of the moment remedy. I have found it to be the most consistently effective therapy for my hands though, as a twenty minute treatment can provide relief for many hours, and if used at night, prevents having to work my hands in the morning to get them going. with my Remington wax bath you put your hands directly into the wax - no plastic gloves. Then when you've dipped your hands a few times and got a good thick coating on, you slip on a plastic bag, then the thermal mitts. It makes my skin lovely and soft! Must be different methods with different units.
