Aleve or Tylenol for Arthritis Pain? |
|||||
Question:
Has anyone had any good results with arthritis pain relief from either Aleve or Tylenol Arthritis or other over the counter meds? Answer: I got decent results from ibuprofen.There are over 170 different diseases that fall under the general heading of arthritis. And a Rheumatologist is best equipped to diagnose and treat these diseases. Depending on your arthritis pain - I suppose Aleve or Tylenol have helped some people. I personally would like to scream every time I see the Aleve commercial with the attractive fifty year old woman telling us she had knee surgery - we watch her limping around and having a heck of a time getting up some stairs. And then - Miracle - she takes Aleve and there she is dancing. Sure - am sorry I just don't go for it. Both Aleve and Tylenol can cause serious liver problems, etc. - you have to drink tons of water with them and most people don't...I am on Morphine for pain - and although I take small doses and watch it - morphine has given me my life back to some degree. I have read so much about the side effects of taking any anti-inflammatory medications such as GI track and liver maladies, I will certainly go easy on any over-the-counter drugs like Aleve. I am suffering from shoulder pain and the Aleve does give me relief, an I do drink a glass of water every hour on the hour as well. I think that overall you will find that the anti-inflammatory category of OTC drugs (such as Advil, Alieve...) work much better than a pain-reliever (like Tylenol). Tylenol does nothing for me. Inflammation is what creates the discomfort. So taking down the inflammation is what you want to do. |
